Companies like ASLA are sensitive ecosystems within which many important, yet frequently unsung heroes contribute invaluably to the organisation’s growth and excellence. One such individual is Johan Verwey. Johan joined ASLA in 1988 and has proven his loyalty and dedication to the success of the company ever since. He will officially retire from the position of Deputy CEO at the end of February 2023.

Over the past 35 years Johan has spearheaded many of ASLA’s triumphs and innovations – including continuous research and development that, amongst others, culminated in the successful patenting of the ASLA frame house and the procurement of the Agrément Certification for the ASLA building system.

“At ASLA our pioneering spirit not only results in the success of our business, but also uplifts our communities and benchmarks construction standards,” says Johan. “I have had the privilege to meet and interact with remarkable people during my time at ASLA and I will treasure those relationships and the memories I have made. Official retirement feels rather anti-climactic – perhaps because I will still, to a lesser extent, remain involved.”

As an esteemed industry leader and civil engineer, Johan has earned the respect and confidence of ASLA’s clients, associates and host of professional service providers. The profound impact of his work will be felt for many years to come and for that we are eternally grateful.
